Author Spotlight: Rose Gordon

When I started my book review blog it was to share with others how I felt about what I’d just read and hopefully encourage others to read and enjoy it as well. I never thought that I’d have the chance to meet authors whose books have made an impact on my life.

For our inaugural Author Spotlight I have chosen to feature Rose Gordon whose books have had me staying up for days on end to finish, and whose encouraging words through our various emails has really touched my heart. If you enjoy historical romance with a touch of humour along with deliciously flawed characters then I highly recommend Ms. Gordon’s books. Start with her latest, His Contract Bride (Banks Brothers Brides, BOOK 1). If you can hold out until October when His Yankee Bride comes out, then you’ll have the stories of both sets of parents featured in the Scandalous Sisters trilogy and Grooms Series. If you’re not a speed reader like me, by the time you finish all of those, the last two Banks Brothers books should be out.

If you ever have the pleasure of talking with Ms. Gordon, you’ll find that she’s very down to earth and doesn’t put on airs. She genuinely wants you to like her characters as well as their stories. And I do love all of her characters. Well, with the exception of Lady Olivia who grates on my nerves quite a bit and then gets what she deserves in the end. Okay and so her parents weren’t exactly the sweetest people, but they weren’t quite as bad as their haughty daughter.

It’s obvious to this fan that Ms. Gordon has really done her homework when it comes to the time period she writes about. I find myself having to pause at times to go look up certain things so that I have a close enough image in my head when reading.

You can ask any of my girlfriends and they’ll tell you that I will sing Ms. Gordon’s praises until they caved in and read one of her books. And then read another and another and…well, they can stand in line behind me as I refuse to give up my position as her number one fan in my own mind. My favorite character of all is Madison, whom you will find in To Win His Wayward Wife (Scandalous Sisters, Book 3), which is also my favorite book of all three series to date. Madison is spunky, confident, and the true love of a man whom I thought incapable of love when we meet him in Intentions of the Earl. Brooke is pretty awesome too, but their sister Liberty had to grow on me as I pretty much wanted to throttle her through most of the book and even tweeted and emailed Ms. Gordon several times to tell her how I felt about Liberty. At least she wasn’t as bad as Lady Olivia. No one could be THAT bad.

To learn more about Ms Gordon, please stop by her website, fan her Goodreads page – and mark her books as to read if you haven’t read them already! – and lastly stop by her Amazon page and be sure to purchase one of her books. If you have a Kindle or a Kindle app, be sure to download Intentions of the Earl (Scandalous Sisters, Book 1), which is free at the time of this post. You can also find links* to her books directly on Amazon on the right sidebar.

Coming soon will be my reviews for the last two Grooms books which I read several weeks ago, but have been too ill to review as of yet. In fact this post should have been put up on the second, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I put it off until I could give it my full attention.

Lastly, please remember that authors are people too. Just because you don’t like something that someone has written doesn’t mean that someone else will feel the same way about it. The whole point of this post was to highlight an author whom I absolutely adore and want to encourage others who enjoy historical romance to read. Ms. Gordon will be the first person to tell you that her characters aren’t for everyone, but I do hope that you’ll check out her books and find her characters as enjoyable – or throttle-worthy in Lady Olivia’s case – as I do.

Happy Reading,
Angieleigh

Oh, I forgot to add, not only will there be several reviews to come between now and October 17th, I will also be hosting a giveaway. Be sure to check back often!
